Why should I replace missing teeth?
Replacing missing teeth is important to your general health and to the health of your other teeth. Not only do you lose chewing ability when a tooth is lost, but a missing tooth can cause other teeth in the area to tip, tilt and rotate. These changes may lead to a discrepancy with your bite, resulting in serious jaw problems. Also, there are the obvious problems of poor appearance and loss of self-esteem caused by one or more missing teeth.
The replacement of missing teeth with dental implants has been practiced for more than 50 years and in most instances is recognised as the most effective treatment choice. Properly maintained implants, which are anchored by sufficient bone, can last for many years.

Dental Implant Procedure
Placing dental implants is usually completed on two separate occasions. The first is a surgical procedure to place the implants. A second non-surgical procedure is completed 8 to 12 weeks later, after the implant has bonded with the jawbone where a small post is added to secure the new crown, bridge or denture that replaces your missing tooth or teeth. In some cases, that can be completed on the same day.

Initially, the implant is placed into your jaw bone. Over the next two to three months, the implant and the bone are allowed to bond together to form an anchor for your artificial tooth. During this time, a temporary tooth replacement option can be worn over the implant site. Following this, impressions of your implant will be recorded to begin the advanced construction of your new tooth.
Finally, your custom-made crown will be attached to the implant. After a short time, you will experience restored confidence in your smile and your ability to chew and speak. Dental implants are so natural-looking and feeling that you may forget you ever lost a tooth.
